GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A man from one Eastern Carolina county has been sentenced to 6-8 years in prison for a 2022 conspiracy case.
Today, Jermarlon Harris was found guilty by a jury of extortion and felony conspiracy.
Back in November of 2022, officials say Harris and his co-defendant had repeatedly called and texted the victim in this case. Officials say they threatened to accuse him of crimes he had not committed and send the victim’s private pictures and messages to his family, friends, the media, and law enforcement. The victim reported the messages to the Greenville Police Department.
The Criminal Investigations Unit was able to set up a sting operation which led to the arrest of Harris and his co-defendant.
Judge Marvin Blount, III sentenced Harris today.
