PARIS, FRANCE (WITN) – Competition is heating up in Paris at this year’s summer Olympic Games, and one U.S. squad that’s off to a hot start is former UNC athlete, Crystal Dunn.
After a strong 2-0 start, Dunn and the US Women’s national team are looking for their first Olympic gold medal since 2012. After a less-than-stellar showing at last summer’s World Cup, the Americans have flipped the script so far, and are outscoring their opponents 7-1 through their first two games.
“You know, I think we have all that we need to walk away hopefully with a gold medal but it’s not gonna be easy by no means and we are not naive to the idea that every team has a really good chance of competing and doing really well,” said Dunn.
Dunn and the women’s national team will continue their quest for gold as they close out group play against Australia later today.
