Don Rickles Dead At 90
The comedy world is full of sadness today as legendary comic Don Rickles passes away at age 90.
Rickles was the master of insult comedy. No one was safe whenever he took to the mic, especially during The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast specials.
Of course, his numerous appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson only added to his legend.
Rickles managed to rack up a number of acting credits over the course of his extensive career, which was predominantly guest star roles on various TV shows, but his biggest acting successes came on the silver screen playing Billy Sherbert in 1995’s Casino and voicing Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise.
Among notable achievements, Rickles received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000, the Emmy for Individual Performance in a Variety of Music Program for Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project in 2008 and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York Friars Club in 2013.
Rickles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, his daughter, Mindy, and two grandsons. His son, screenwriter/producer Larry Rickles, passed away in December 2011.
